{"id":75,"date":"2015-06-29T10:04:14","date_gmt":"2015-06-29T15:04:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/cohp-student-services\/?page_id=75"},"modified":"2022-09-19T14:26:13","modified_gmt":"2022-09-19T19:26:13","slug":"determine-by-grade-point-average-gpa","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/cohp-student-services\/determine-by-grade-point-average-gpa\/","title":{"rendered":"Determine by grade point average (GPA)?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Calculating your grade point average (GPA) is simple once you gather the information that you need. \u00a0The University uses a 4 point scale.<\/p>\n<div id=\"wrapper\" class=\"clearfix\">\n<div id=\"wrap\" class=\"container\">\n<div id=\"content\" class=\"container2 clearfix\">\n<div id=\"entry\" class=\"grid_8\">\n<p>A = 4 points<br \/>\nB = 3 points<br \/>\nC = 2 points<br \/>\nD = 1 points<br \/>\nF = 0 points<\/p>\n<p>Each course is assigned a number of credit hours which can range from 1 &#8211; 12.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>To determine your GPA\u00a0simply multiply the value of your letter grade by the credits for each class.<br \/>\nThen total the number of quality points. \u00a0Take this total and divide it by the number of credits that you completed. \u00a0The result should be a number that ranges from 0 &#8211; 4.00 and is your average for that semester.<\/p>\n<p style=\"\">For example\u00a0 Student A completes 15 credits. \u00a0She receives an A in PSY 201 (3 credits), a B in ENG 101 (3 credits), a C in FYS 100 (3 credits), an A in MTH 121 (3 credits) ,and a C in CMM 103 (3 credits). \u00a0To calculate her GPA:<\/p>\n<p style=\"\">4X3 = 12 quality points for PSY 201<br \/>\n3X3 = 09 quality points for ENG 101<br \/>\n2X3 = 06 quality points for FYS 100<br \/>\n4X3 = 12 quality points for MTH 121<br \/>\n2X3 = 06 quality points for CMM 103<\/p>\n<p style=\"\">Quality Points = 45<br \/>\nTotal credits = 15<\/p>\n<p style=\"\">45\/15 = 3.0 term\u00a0GPA<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Calculating your grade point average (GPA) is simple once you gather the information that you need. \u00a0The University uses a 4 point scale.
