Graduation and receiving your diploma is the culmination of your time in higher education. \u00a0It is not a step to be taken lightly. \u00a0The Office of Student Services is responsible for verifying that all graduates complete his\/her program requirements as listed in their catalog of record.<\/p>\n
Ultimately, meeting your major’s graduation requirements is your responsibility.<\/strong><\/p>\n There are some very important questions you need to answer prior to submitting your graduation application.<\/p>\n 1. Have you met or will you satisfactorily complete your plan of study in the term you want to graduate?<\/p>\n You can use Degree Works<\/a> on myMU to evaluate your record and to see if you are eligible to apply for graduation. The Office of Student Services also reviews students at both the junior and senior level of each program. \u00a0During this evaluation you’ll receive an evaluation of your credits. \u00a0Classes needed to complete your \u00a0major will be discussed with you during this evaluation.<\/p>\n 2. Have you met the minimum number of credits required for your program?<\/a><\/p>\n 3. Do you have the minimum grade point average required for your program?<\/a><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Steps to a successful graduation<\/a> is a handy checklist that will help you plan your graduation.<\/p>\n There are 4 graduation dates each academic year: \u00a0May, July, August, and December. \u00a0Dates are publicized by the Registrar’s office<\/a>, the Office of Student Services and included in the Marshall Academic Calendars<\/a>.<\/p>\n Marshall University offers students the ability to apply for graduation online. By logging into\u00a0myMU<\/a>, students can fill out the application and pay the commencement fee at the same time. Paper applications must be returned to the student\u2019s academic dean\u2019s office and fee payment made to the Bursar\u2019s office.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Students who do not complete the application by the deadline for the semester in which they intend to graduate will need to contact their Dean\u2019s office regarding graduation. The online portal will be unavailable once the deadline has passed.<\/strong><\/p>\n
