Organizational Structure<\/h2>\n

\"College<\/a><\/p>\n

Dean’s Cabinet<\/h2>\n

The Dean\u2019s Cabinet consists of the Dean of the College of Science, the Associate Dean, and the college\u2019s department chairs. The Dean\u2019s Cabinet is the college’s senior leadership team that works closely with the Dean and university leadership to provide advice, develop, and implement college-wide initiatives, and oversee the college’s operations. The Dean\u2019s Cabinet meets every other week during the academic year, and during the summer if needed.<\/p>\n

College Committees<\/h2>\n

The general guidelines for College Committees include:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • Members of all committees shall be elected or appointed for a term of three (3) years.<\/li>\n
  • The decision to elect or appoint members is made by the chair of the department, in consultation with faculty.<\/li>\n
  • No member shall serve for more than two (2) consecutive terms or for more than one full and one partial term.<\/li>\n
  • Members of all committees must be full-time faculty (tenure-track, tenured, term, or temp faculty).<\/li>\n
  • All committees serve in an advisory capacity to the Dean and report to the Dean.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Curriculum Committee<\/h3>\n

    Guidelines for the Curriculum Committee<\/h4>\n
      \n
    • Membership: One (1) full-time faculty members elected or appointed by each department.<\/li>\n
    • The COS Associate Dean and Program Manager are members.<\/li>\n
    • Functions: In accordance with BOG, university, and COS policy, to review and approve\n
        \n
      • course additions, changes, or deletions;<\/li>\n
      • program, major, minor, area of emphasis, and certificate additions, changes, deletions, or intents to plan;<\/li>\n
      • policies regarding majors, minors, and graduation requirements;<\/li>\n
      • Core II natural science requirements;<\/li>\n
      • academic procedures proposed by COS departments;<\/li>\n
      • route and track curriculum documents through subsequent review levels, through approval.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          Faculty Advancement Committee<\/h3>\n

          Guidelines for the Faculty Advancement Committee<\/h4>\n
            \n
          • Membership is limited to tenured faculty.<\/li>\n
          • Membership: Two (2) full-time faculty members, at least one of which must be a full professor, elected or appointed by each department.<\/li>\n
          • Functions:\n
              \n
            • to review and evaluate applications for tenure and promotion in accordance with BOG, university, and COS policy and the applicant\u2019s contract requirements, including the recommendations of departmental committees and Chairs;<\/li>\n
            • to provide the Dean with a written rationale for the Committee\u2019s decision on each application;<\/li>\n
            • to direct the development of criteria for use in evaluating applications and for the awarding of tenure and promotion. [Note: Changes in criteria must be approved by a majority vote of all full-time faculty before implementation.];<\/li>\n
            • to evaluate and prioritize applications for sabbatical leave.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
