Dr. Quinones (Department of Chemistry) and Mr. Jay Rader (Center for Student Success) recently received $48,000 in NSF funding for the 2024-2025 academic year through the First2 Network<\/a>. The First2 Network is an expanding group of over 1000 people and 30 organizations working to increase the number of college graduates in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) to strengthen our communities and drive an innovation economy in West Virginia and beyond. First2 focuses on rural, first-generation, low-income, and other underrepresented STEM students, making sure all our students can succeed. The funding will be used to fund research within the College of Science and College of Engineering and Computer Sciences as well as providing mentoring first-generation, minority, and low-income students. <\/span>Additional faculty involved include Drs.
