{"id":3576,"date":"2024-11-12T15:29:48","date_gmt":"2024-11-12T20:29:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/cos\/?p=3576"},"modified":"2024-11-13T09:51:01","modified_gmt":"2024-11-13T14:51:01","slug":"mathematics-faculty-and-students-present-at-conference-on-differential-equations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/cos\/2024\/11\/12\/mathematics-faculty-and-students-present-at-conference-on-differential-equations\/","title":{"rendered":"Mathematics faculty and students present at Conference on Differential Equations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On 9 November 2024, two mathematics faculty <a href=\"https:\/\/mupages.marshall.edu\/sites\/truongt\/\">Dr. Trung Truong<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/tomcuchta.com\/\">Dr. Tom Cuchta<\/a> took a group of students to the <a href=\"https:\/\/mathanddata.wvu.edu\/searcde-2024\">42nd Southeastern-Atlantic Regional Conference on Differential Equations<\/a>, held this year at West Virginia University in Morgantown, WV.<\/p>\n<p>There were five talks contributed by students and faculty from Marshall&#8217;s Department of Mathematics and Physics. One undergraduate, Richard Williams, gave a talk titled &#8220;The Heat Equation on Discrete Time Scales&#8221;. Three mathematics graduate students gave talks: Rebecca Oduro spoke on &#8220;First-order Nabla Riemann&#8211;Liouville fractional difference equations&#8221;, Wasiu Sule spoke on &#8220;Gompertz distribution on time scales&#8221;, and Robert Ireri spoke on &#8220;A Numerical Method for Coefficient Reconstruction of a Periodic Inverse Source Problem&#8221;. Additionally, Dr. Tom Cuchta spoke on &#8220;Periodic functions with nonuniform domains&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The Southeastern-Atlantic Regional Conference on Differential Equations is held annually in various cities along the east coast of the US.
