Several Forensic Science graduate students helped lead the event by organizing the crime scene competition at the university\u2019s new crime scene house.<\/p>\n<p>Marshall students earned top honors across multiple competitions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>CJA-sponsored quiz bowl team \u201cThe Criminal Elements\u201d took first place for the third year in a row. Team representatives were: Dylan Andrus, Sydney Deaton, Devin Hopkins, Emma Smith, and Madilyn Smith.<\/li>\n<li>APS-sponsored quiz bowl team \u201cThe Thundering Justice\u201d placed second. Team representatives were: Matison Brown, Ben McElroy, Aiden McCloud, Demi Olin, and Sydney Scholl.<\/li>\n<li>APS-sponsored crime scene team \u201cThe Bison Bureau of Investigations\u201d also placed second. Team representatives were: Matison Brown, Pacey Frum, Devin Hopkins, Ben McElroy, Aidan McCloud, Sydney Scholl, and Emma Smith.<\/li>\n<li>In the state undergraduate paper competition, Demi Olin Lamp took first place and Ben McElroy earned third.<\/li>\n<li>In the graduate paper competition, Dylan Andrus placed first.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In addition to their awards, Andrus presented \u201cPolice Misconduct: A Thematic Analysis of Academic Research and Policy Recommendations\u201d and Olin Lamp presented \u201cThe Rise of AI in Policing: A Critical Perspective.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The College of Science congratulates all participants and extends special thanks to the student volunteers who helped make the conference a success.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Marshall University undergraduate and graduate students made an impressive showing at the annual West Virginia Criminal Justice Educators\u2019 Association (WVCJEA) Conference, hosted on campus and coordinated by Dr. Leslie Quick.
