The Marshall University College of Science welcomed top student competitors from across the state on March 7, 2026, for West Virginia\u2019s 12th annual Science Olympiad State Tournament. The event brought together middle and high school teams for a full day of fast-paced, hands-on STEM competition.<\/p>\n
Part of the national Science Olympiad<\/span><\/span> program, the tournament challenges students in a wide range of events spanning biology, chemistry, physics, engineering, and earth science. Participants work in teams to solve problems, build devices, and demonstrate their knowledge in both lab and testing settings.<\/p>\n Congratulations to all students who earned medals during this year\u2019s competition. Morgantown High School Team 2 claimed the overall championship title, followed by Huntington High School Highlanders 1 in second place, and Parkersburg High School Team Red in third.<\/p>\n With their first-place finish, Morgantown High School Team 2 will advance to the national stage at the Science Olympiad National Tournament, hosted by the University of Southern California<\/span><\/span> in Los Angeles, California, on May 22 and 23, 2026.<\/p>\n Science Olympiad continues to inspire the next generation of scientists, engineers, and innovators by combining teamwork, academic competition, and real-world problem solving.
