Hedrick Outstanding Faculty Award is awarded annually and named in honor of Mr. Hedrick&#8217;s father, a former history professor and founder of the Graduate School. The $5,000 award, contingent upon program funding, is the most prestigious form of faculty recognition at Marshall University.<\/p>\n<h2>Eligibility<\/h2>\n<p>Nominees must:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>be in a full-time, tenured appointment in a unit\u00a0that reports to Academic Affairs;<\/li>\n<li>have a minimum of seven years of full-time teaching experience at Marshall University (<em>a person is first eligible for nomination in the fall\u00a0of the 8th year)<\/em>;<\/li>\n<li>have a record of outstanding scholarship, research and\/or creative activity plus outstanding undergraduate or graduate teaching.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Nominations<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/marshall.az1.qualtrics.com\/jfe\/form\/SV_5vFkIe7rrFaDu6i\">Nomination Form<\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"\">Members of the <strong>faculty<\/strong>, <strong>staff<\/strong>, or <strong>administration<\/strong> may make a nomination by completing the online form. Self-nominations will not be accepted.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"\">Nominations deadline: <strong>September 29, 2025<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Please Note: A faculty member can receive this award only once in his or her service at Marshall University. For a list of previous recipients, please visit: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/ctl\/?p=1570\">Hedrick Award Recipients Page<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Submission Procedures &amp; Materials<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Part I &#8211; Screening:<\/strong> Nominees will be screened by the Selection Committee. The screening will be based on the following documents, which are due to the committee by October 24, 2025:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>A current vita<\/li>\n<li>Responses to a teaching questionnaire<\/li>\n<li>A recommendation letter from a colleague (not your chair) who is familiar with your teaching and research\/creative activities.<\/li>\n<li>A list of your current research\/creative activity along with a\u00a0one- to two-page discussion of the relevance of that\u00a0activity<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Part II &#8211; Finalists:<\/strong> Those nominees selected as finalists will provide the following documentation to the committee by January 19, 2026.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Two additional letters of recommendation from colleagues who are familiar with the candidate&#8217;s teaching and research\/creative activities (not your chair)<\/li>\n<li>Responses to a questionnaire from your chair.<\/li>\n<li>Sample(s) of works published (books, chapters, creative publications\/performances\/exhibitions, refereed articles, etc.)\u2014either as PDF or in another electronic form (video, audio, image).<\/li>\n<li>A one- to two-page discussion of your course evaluations for the prior four years (we will obtain these evaluations from Institutional Research for you).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The Selection Committee will observe the classroom teaching of each finalist and meet with students and colleagues during the Spring 2026 semester.
