The $3000 award, contingent upon program funding, is presented to a faculty member who demonstrates superior teaching.<\/p>\n<h2>Eligibility<\/h2>\n<p>Nominees must:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>be in a fulltime tenured appointment\u00a0in a unit\u00a0that reports to Academic Affairs;<\/li>\n<li>have a minimum of six years of credited fulltime teaching experience, at least three of which are at Marshall. (For the purposes of this award, &#8220;credited fulltime teaching experience&#8221; refers to the total years of experience that Academic Affairs counts as part of a faculty member&#8217;s tenured or tenure-track appointment at Marshall University.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Please Note:\u00a0In any given year a faculty member can be considered for only one award that recognizes teaching\u00a0(i.e., Hedrick <strong>or<\/strong> Reynolds). If nominated and eligible for more than one award, the nominee will be asked to choose one teaching award for consideration.<\/p>\n<h2>Nominations<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/marshall.az1.qualtrics.com\/jfe\/form\/SV_5vFkIe7rrFaDu6i\">Nomination Form<\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span class=\"s1\">Members of the <strong>faculty<\/strong>, <strong>staff<\/strong>, \u00a0<strong>administration<\/strong>, or <strong>student body<\/strong> are invited to make a nomination by completing the online form below<\/span><span class=\"s2\">. Self-nominations will not be accepted.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"\"><span class=\"s2\"><span style=\"\">Nominations deadline: <strong>September 29, 2025<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Please Note: A faculty member can receive this award only once in his or her service at Marshall University. Previous recipients of the Reynolds award are listed here: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/ctl\/faculty-awards-and-grants\/marshall-shirley-reynolds-outstanding-teacher-award\/winners-of-the-reynolds-outstanding-teacher-award\">Reynolds Outstanding Teacher Award Recipients<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Submission Materials<\/h2>\n<p>Candidates who accept the nomination will submit documentation of their achievements by October 24, 2025. Required documents include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A current vita<\/li>\n<li>Sample syllabi for three different courses taught by the candidate at Marshall University<\/li>\n<li>A teaching questionnaire<\/li>\n<li>A supervisor\u2019s recommendation form<\/li>\n<li>Two letters of support from colleagues familiar with the candidate&#8217;s teaching<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In addition, course evaluation summary sheets for the prior four years will be solicited directly from Institutional Research.<\/p>\n<h2>Evaluation Process<\/h2>\n<p>Selection of a faculty member to receive the Reynolds Outstanding Teacher Award is a two-level process.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>The first level of screening is based on the committee&#8217;s evaluation of the submitted materials listed above. Finalists will be selected and notified by December 2025.<\/li>\n<li>The Selection Committee will observe the classroom teaching of each finalist and conduct interviews with each finalist&#8217;s colleagues and students during the Spring 2026 semester.
