The Center for Teaching and Learning is pleased to offer a Community of Practice on \u201cPressbooks: Strategies for Creating and Using OER\u201d beginning in Spring 2024. Designed to address a dilemma often associated with open educational resources (OER)\u2014how to balance faculty time pressures and scarcity of OER content with the benefits of reducing student costs\u2014this Community of Practice will guide users through developing tangible skills in creating, or modifying, their own OER.<\/p>\n
We\u2019ll use Pressbooks, Marshall\u2019s user-friendly, customizable, and Blackboard compatible OER tool, and, in hands-on sessions, we will practice all necessary Pressbooks strategies. Topics include creating a new book, modifying an existing one, adding\/importing content, including interactive (H5P) activities, and integrating the finished text into Blackboard\u2019s learning management system. Participants will emerge with all the skills necessary to create and publish their personalized OER textbook.<\/p>\n
This community of practice will meet five times in Spring 2024. All meetings will be from 10-11:30 a.m<\/strong>. in Morrow 130<\/strong>.
