Professional Development and Consulting<\/h2>\n

The National Writing Project (NWP) approach to improving teaching is a research-based professional development focused on improving student achievement in all areas. The Central West Virginia Writing Project at Marshall University offers a range of professional development sessions for teachers and administrators to support writing and literacy.\u00a0 We are able assist teachers and administrators with developing and evaluating writing programs, planning curriculum indicatives to meet state standards and can develop and deliver customized professional development to meet the need or particular schools and counties.<\/p>\n

Dates and Locations<\/h2>\n

Sessions can be held at Marshall University or at local sites.<\/p>\n

Costs and Procedures<\/h2>\n

All rates are based on a 20-participant maximum. Larger groups can be accommodated at an additional $50.00 per hour for each additional 5 participants.<\/p>\n

Sample Costs<\/h2>\n

Half-day workshop (~3 hours): $500.00<\/p>\n

Full-day workshop (~6 hours): $1,000.00<\/p>\n

Workshop Series (15 hours):$3,000.00<\/p>\n

Presenter fees include collaboration with professional development coordinator, presenters\u2019 preparation and travel time, and presentation materials<\/p>\n

Federal Funding<\/h2>\n

Federal funding supports contracting or partnering with CWVWP. WV plan for Every Child Succeeds Act (ESSA) emphasizes the need for intensive professional development.<\/p>\n
