During her time on the Marshall faculty, Dr. Reynolds and her students conducted research focusing on synthesized speech intelligibility and comprehension, the relationship between language and literacy, and language development in children from rural Appalachia. These studies were published in the <em>Journal of Speech, Language, and Hearing Research, Augmentative and Alternative Communication, Journal of Applied Developmental Psychology, Perceptual and Motor Skills, <\/em>and<em> Contemporary Issues in Communication Science and Disorders<\/em>. During her years in administration, Dr. Reynolds served as a member of the Steering Committee for Marshall\u2019s first Higher Learning Commission (HLC) Quality Initiative, working with Marshall\u2019s faculty and administrators to test the Lumina Foundation\u2019s Degree Qualifications Profile (DQP). During the three years before her retirement, she worked with Marshall colleagues on the university\u2019s second HLC Quality Initiative,\u00a0<em>Building a Stronger and More Inclusive Marshall Community<\/em>. She was the university\u2019s accreditation liaison officer to the HLC from 2013 until her retirement. Dr. Reynolds and her Marshall University colleagues presented the outcomes of Marshall\u2019s assessment and accreditation initiatives at professional meetings of the American Association of Colleges and Universities (AAC&amp;U), the Assessment Institute, and the Higher Learning Commission. Dr. Reynolds chaired the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission\u2019s Assessment Council, served on Marshall\u2019s Communication Disorders Advocacy Council and Marshall\u2019s Women\u2019s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Advisory Board.
