C. Inscribed: \u201cJohn Marshall, Chief Justice of the United States 1801-1835.\u201d This statue with its circular area, defines a network of radiated pedestrian paths through the inner campus. The 6-foot base is engraved: \u201cRevolutionary soldier. Definer of the Constitution.
