Marshall University students working on their capstone projects are eligible to receive up to $250 per academic year. These funds are awarded on a competitive basis. While award funds are largely unrestricted, they are intended to support capstone projects directly. Expected expenditures include, but are not limited to: travel, materials, photocopying, and equipment.<\/p>\n<p>Please note that the Faculty Senate Research Committee (FSRC) has\u00a0 updated the guidelines and other criteria for the student Research Scholars Award. <strong>Be sure to carefully read the updated version of the guidelines prior to submitting your application.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>Apply Today<\/h2>\n<p>Go <a href=\"https:\/\/dynamicforms.ngwebsolutions.com\/casAuthentication.ashx?InstID=cade935a-cfad-4410-b039-e0d18d946b0d&amp;targetURL=https%3a%2f%2fdynamicforms.ngwebsolutions.com%2fSubmit%2fStart%2f3381b3b2-d376-4673-abae-a34de7c3e0b4\">here<\/a> to start the application.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Criteria:<\/strong><br \/>\n1) A complete application form to be used as a cover sheet.<br \/>\n2) A proposal (1 \u2013 3 pages), written by the applicant, which includes:<br \/>\ni. A project title.<br \/>\nii. A description of the research or creative focus.<br \/>\niii. An outline of the significance of the proposed activity.<br \/>\niv. A project budget including a list of other sources of funding.<br \/>\n3) A letter of support from the applicant\u2019s faculty mentor(s) with mention of the expected benefit of the project to both the student and the institution.<\/p>\n<p>Awarded applicants will be required to submit a Final Project Report to the Research Committee outlining the outcome of the funded research or creative effort. This report is due on or before the last day of the current academic year and can be either a portfolio of completed work or a brief 500 word summary detailing the work done for the capstone. Groups of students who are working on the same capstone project could be eligible to collectively receive the maximum amount per group (up to $250). For example, if there are five students in the group, they will each receive $50.<br \/>\nThese funds are limited, and students may only apply one time a year. Applicants can request up to $250 in funding; however, the number of eligible applicants, amounts requested, and available funding budget could impact the final amount awarded.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Eligibility of Applicant:<\/strong><br \/>\nStudents must be completing their capstone projects in the semester for which they are applying. Funding may not be \u201cheld\u201d until the next semester and must be used in the semester in which the student is completing their capstone.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Eligible Activities:<\/strong><br \/>\nWhile award funds are largely unrestricted, they are intended to support capstone projects directly. Expected expenditures include, but are not limited to: travel, materials, photocopying, and equipment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Deadlines:<\/strong><br \/>\nStudents can apply at any time prior the October 1st and April 1st deadlines; however, funding will only be awarded in the semester and year in which the student\/groups of students are completing their capstone project. Applications for funding received after the due date for the semester in which the applicant is completing their capstone will not be reviewed or considered for funding. <strong>Recipients are reimbursed for their expenses after the activity is completed and applicants who fail to seek reimbursement within three months (90 days) of the start date of the activity will lose their funding and be ineligible for another award during that academic year.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Assistance and Confirmation:<\/strong><br \/>\nIf you experience trouble submitting this application, please remove all commas from currency values.
