Accreditation is a voluntary process of external peer review in which an accrediting agency grants public recognition to a program of study, institution, or laboratory that meets established qualifications and standards.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\">Marshall University<\/a> is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hlcommission.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NCA Accredited<\/a>, a member institution of the <a href=\"https:\/\/wvhepcnew.wvnet.edu\/\" target=\"blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WVHEPC<\/a> and a proud member of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.advantagevalley.com\/\" target=\"blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Advantage Valley<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/forensics\/files\/2010\/10\/clip_image002.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-13\" src=\"http:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/forensics\/files\/2010\/10\/clip_image002.gif\" alt=\"FEPAC logo\" width=\"132\" height=\"88\" \/><\/a>The Master of Science in Forensic Science Degree Program is fully accredited by the <a href=\"https:\/\/fepac-edu.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">American Academy of Forensic Science&#8217;s Forensic Educational Program Accreditation Commission (FEPAC).<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Marshall University Forensic Science Center is assessed by ANAB and meets the requirements of ISO\/IEC 17025:2017 (ANAB 17025:2017 Forensic Science Testing and Calibration Laboratories Accreditation Requirements; FBI Quality Assurance Standards for Forensic DNA testing Laboratories: 2011 and FBI Quality Assurance Standards for Forensic DNA testing Laboratories: 2011).<\/p>\n<h2>Certification<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Certification<\/strong> is a process whereby an individual receives public recognition by a professional certification agency for having met established qualifications and educational standards. Generally, individuals become certified by passing a certification examination such as given by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.criminalistics.com\/\" target=\"blank\" rel=\"noopener\">American Board of Criminalistics (ABC)<\/a>.\u00a0Graduates are encouraged to seek certification by the ABC.<\/p>\n<p>Students are encouraged to become nationally recognized by the ABC by taking the Forensic Science Assessment Test (FSAT) prior to graduation.<\/p>\n<p>In general, national certification is an excellent means of enhancing an individual&#8217;s resume and\/or credentials.\u00a0Certification is available from a variety of certification agencies depending on the specialty area of certification desired.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Accreditation Accreditation is a process by which educational programs, as well as laboratories, demonstrate that they have met standards set forth by accrediting agencies.
