{"id":1325,"date":"2011-04-28T12:02:43","date_gmt":"2011-04-28T16:02:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/forensics\/?p=1325"},"modified":"2015-12-08T09:50:29","modified_gmt":"2015-12-08T14:50:29","slug":"wilson-research-poster","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/forensics\/news\/wilson-research-poster","title":{"rendered":"Research Day 2011 &#8211; Amanda Wilson &#8211; Separation of Adhesive Tapes from Various Surfaces Using Three Different Techniques"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Separation of Adhesive Tapes from Various Surfaces Using Three Different Techniques <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Biography:\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Amanda Wilson is from Indianapolis, Indiana.\u00a0 She is a graduate of IUPUI where she completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology.\u00a0 She is currently working towards her Master\u2019s degree in Forensic Science with emphases in Chemistry and Crime Scene Investigation.\u00a0 This summer, Amanda did her internship with the Huntington Police Department looking at different methods of separating adhesive tapes from various surfaces and developing latent prints from the adhesive side of the tape.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Abstract:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This study investigates the use of three techniques to separate adhesive tapes from various surfaces.\u00a0 The techniques employed were a freezing technique, heating with a steam iron, and the application of Un-du.\u00a0 A fingerprint was added to the adhesive side of four different types of tapes and then added to either paper, plastic, wood, or another adhesive surface.\u00a0 After a time period of 1, 2, 4, 6, or 8 weeks the tapes were removed using one of the three techniques.\u00a0 Latent prints were developed off the adhesive side of the tape using either Wet Wop or Sticky Side Powder.\u00a0 All three techniques were effective in separating tape from paper and wood surfaces at all time periods.\u00a0 However, none of the techniques used were able to separate tape from plastic and adhesive surfaces.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Poster:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/forensics\/files\/2011\/04\/Wilson.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1327\" src=\"http:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/forensics\/files\/2011\/04\/Wilson-300x230.jpg\" alt=\"Separation of Adhesive Tapes from Various Surfaces Using Three Different Techniques \" width=\"300\" height=\"230\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/forensics\/files\/2011\/04\/Wilson-300x230.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/forensics\/files\/2011\/04\/Wilson-1024x787.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/forensics\/files\/2011\/04\/Wilson.jpg 1500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>References:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Gardner, R.
