Funded Research Opportunity for Fall 2018<\/strong><\/p>\n

Marshall University is now accepting applications for the Undergraduate Creative Discovery and Undergraduate Research Scholar Awards for Fall 2018. The award provides students an opportunity to pursue original creative work, scholarship or research, under the mentorship of a full-time faculty member during fall semester 2018. A $750 stipend and up to $1000 for travel and materials for one semester will be awarded.\u00a0 A $750 is also provided for the participating faculty mentor for travel, and up to fourteen awards will be made.<\/p>\n

Eligibility requirements:<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Applicants must be juniors and seniors with a minimum GPA of 3.0<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Applicants must be enrolled at Marshall University for at least 12 hours during the semester in which the project is funded<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Applicants must have a letter of support and sponsorship from a full-time faculty member who is willing to serve as mentor for the project<\/p>\n

The student\u2019s project can involve research, design, development, field study, creative work or performance. The project should require a total commitment of 150 hours of the student’s time (i.e., 10 hours per week) over the semester.\u00a0 The project will be structured so that the student can produce creative or scholarly output (e.g. a presentation, publication, exhibit, or performance) at the end of the award period.<\/p>\n

Complete applications must be received by 5:00 on April 19, 2018, so please consult with a geography faculty member if you are interested in submitting an application.<\/p>\n
