We encourage qualified undergraduates to consider doing an accelerated Master\u2019s degree. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/graduate\/2013\/08\/02\/accelerated-masters-degreefor-seniors\/\">Accelerated Master&#8217;s Degree Description<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Programs that wish to offer the Accelerated Master&#8217;s Degree must submit a proposal to Graduate Council.Please read the Guidelines before you begin.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Guidelines for AMD Proposal\" href=\"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/graduate-council\/files\/2012\/11\/Guidelines-for-an-AMD-Proposal.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Guidelines for an\u00a0Accelerated Master&#8217;s Degree Proposal<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Requests can be made through CourseLeaf CIM.<\/h3>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"PsEHfDs9R8\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/academic-affairs\/courseleaf-cim-instructions\/\">CourseLeaf CIM Instructions<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; clip: rect(1px, 1px, 1px, 1px);\" title=\"&#8220;CourseLeaf CIM Instructions&#8221; &#8212; Office of Academic Affairs\" src=\"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/academic-affairs\/courseleaf-cim-instructions\/embed\/#?secret=SLhaLXDyND#?secret=PsEHfDs9R8\" data-secret=\"PsEHfDs9R8\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Undergraduates accepted into an AGD program can begin taking graduate coursework during their junior year. Programs offering an accelerated master\u2019s degree option may allow up to 12 hours of graduate level coursework. Programs offering an accelerated doctoral degree option may allow up to 18 hours of graduate level coursework.<\/p>\n<p>Graduate coursework\/credit will appear ONLY on the graduate transcript, and graduate course grades will be calculated at the graduate level.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Advantages of an Accelerated Degree:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>complete the Bachelor\u2019s degree with up to 12 fewer credit hours, (must meet all other degree requirements for the Bachelor&#8217;s degree);<\/li>\n<li>begin work on the Master\u2019s degree during the junior year;<\/li>\n<li>complete up to 12 graduate credits at undergraduate tuition rates;<\/li>\n<li>earn a Bachelor\u2019s and Master\u2019s degree in less time.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Eligibility Requirements for Accelerated Master\u2019s Degree Program<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>must have completed at least 60 hours toward the Bachelor&#8217;s degree;<\/li>\n<li>must have at least a 3.30 overall undergraduate GPA;<\/li>\n<li>must have at least a 3.30 GPA in the major;<\/li>\n<li>must meet the admission requirements of the chosen Master\u2019s degree program.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong>\u00a0Accelerated Master&#8217;s Degree programs may have admission requirements that differ from the admission requirements for the regular Master\u2019s degree. For example, some departments might waive the required admission test, such as the GRE, GMAT or Miller Analogies. Students should check with the chosen Master\u2019s degree program.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How to Apply<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol start=\"1\">\n<li>During the junior or senior year, eligible students should meet with their Undergraduate Advisor and the Director of Graduate Studies of their chosen Master\u2019s degree program to develop an\u00a0Accelerated Master&#8217;s Degree <em>Plan of Study<\/em>. The <em>Plan of Study<\/em> form is available from the Graduate College office or online at the Graduate College website. The completed, signed, and approved <em>Plan of Study<\/em> must be submitted to the Graduate College. Any changes to the\u00a0Accelerated Master&#8217;s Degree <em>Plan of Study<\/em> must be approved by the Undergraduate Advisor and Director of Graduate Studies and submitted in writing to the Dean of the Graduate College.<\/li>\n<li>The student\u2019s acceptance into the\u00a0Accelerated Master&#8217;s Degree program is subject to the approval of the <em>Plan of Study<\/em> by the Dean of the Graduate College.<\/li>\n<li>Students accepted into the\u00a0Accelerated Master&#8217;s Degree program should apply for admission to the chosen Master\u2019s degree program for the first semester after the bachelor\u2019s degree is awarded. Applications should be submitted during the last semester of the senior year.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Requirements for Continuation in the\u00a0Accelerated Master&#8217;s Degree Degree Program<br \/>\n<\/strong>Students must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 for all graduate credit toward their Master&#8217;s degree program.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Withdrawal from the<\/strong> <strong>Accelerated Master&#8217;s Degree<\/strong><br \/>\nA student may withdraw at any time from an approved\u00a0Accelerated Master&#8217;s Degree program by informing the Undergraduate Advisor, the Director of Graduate Studies, and the Dean of the Graduate College in writing. A student\u2019s status will then revert to the standard undergraduate degree program. Any graduate hours earned must be approved for use in fulfillment of bachelor\u2019s degree requirements by the student\u2019s Undergraduate Dean.<\/p>\n<p><strong>From Undergraduate to Graduate Student<br \/>\n<\/strong>Beginning with the semester after the student has earned the Bachelor\u2019s degree and has been accepted into a Master\u2019s degree program, the student is enrolled in the Graduate College and is assessed tuition and fees at the graduate rate. All rules regarding graduate education will apply to the student once admitted into the Master\u2019s degree program.<\/p>\n<p>NOTE: Departments wishing to have an\u00a0Accelerated Master&#8217;s Degree degree program must apply to the Graduate Council for approval.<\/p>\n<p>The Graduate College will have administrative responsibility for the Accelerated Master&#8217;s Degree.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Accelerated Master\u2019s Degree (AMD) Marshall University offers an accelerated path through a number of its Master\u2019s degree programs.
