ETD Process and Checklist

  1. Review due dates for graduation on the Graduation Timetable.
  2. Select a thesis/dissertation topic in collaboration with your committee.
  3. Complete the brief online ETD training and submit the electronic verification form located there.
  4. Contact the Office of Research Integrity regarding your project. Send a copy of the abstract in an email to Bruce Day.
  5. Obtain an approval letter (to be included in the thesis appendix) from the Office of Research Integrity.
  6. Conduct your research and write your thesis/dissertation following the ETD style guide.
  7. Apply for graduation during the appropriate period; see the Guide to Applying for Graduation Online.
  8. Schedule a date for the oral defense of your thesis.
  9. Revise your thesis as required by your committee.
  10. Double check your document against the final draft checklist.
  11. Convert your ETD to a PDF Document. Upload the PDF file to the ETD Administrator site.
  12. An ETD Reviewer reads your ETD and returns to you the ETD with notes for any corrections to be made.
  13. You resubmit the corrected ETD for a final check.
  14. Your ETD is published and you have met all requirements for graduation
