You are investing in your future in a way that will pay off for the rest of your life.<\/p>\n<h2>Start Here<\/h2>\n<p>If you are interested in Financial Aid you must complete the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fafsa.ed.gov\/\">Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA<\/a>) online. FAFSA applications are available on October 1 of each year. Once you submit, the Office of Student Financial Assistance will prepare an individual award package for you. Please submit the FAFSA as soon as possible\u2014even before you have been admitted to a graduate program. Early submission allows plenty of time for processing your loan application.<\/p>\n<p>Once you have been admitted, your FAFSA application will automatically be activated. \u00a0Marshall University\u2019s Federal Code is <strong>003815<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>Private Scholarships<\/h2>\n<p>Marshall University has a number of privately funded scholarships, many of which can be awarded to graduate students. Students can apply for these scholarships using the private scholarship portal on the university&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/sfa\/scholarships\/\">Scholarships Website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Loans and Grants<\/h2>\n<p>Graduate students are not eligible for federal or state grants, (except for the federal TEACH grant). Graduate students can be awarded loans up to the annual maximum limit, which depends on the individual and degree. <\/p>\n<h2>Federal Work Study<\/h2>\n<p>Work Study provides jobs for graduate students with financial need, allowing them to earn money to help pay their educational expenses. Your eligibility for FWS hours is also determined by the FAFSA. For more information, see <a title=\"Federal Work Study\" href=\"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/sfa\/types-of-aid\/federal-work-study\/\">Federal Work Study<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Teach Grant<\/h2>\n<p>This federal program provides up to a $4,000 grant to graduate students who promise to teach in an elementary or secondary school (public or private) that serves low income students. If you are interested, speak first to a Financial Aid Officer. For more information, see <a href=\"https:\/\/studentaid.gov\/understand-aid\/types\/grants\/teach\">TEACH Grant<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Graduate Assistantships<\/h2>\n<p>Students are considered for GA positions <strong>after<\/strong> they have been admitted to a program. GA positions are available in teaching, research, and administrative work. GA positions in Master&#8217;s programs may last for two years. Reappointment depends on job performance and academic progress. GA positions come with a stipend and tuition benefit. These benefits are processed for all employees through the Staff Council. In addition to student hourly positions at Marshall University, students can work on-campus for Housing, Sodexo food service, or the Rec Center.
