2026 WV Governor\u2019s School of Entrepreneurship<\/h2>\n\n\t\t\t\t\n \n

The West Virginia Governor’s School of Entrepreneurship (GSE) is a residential summer program hosted by Marshall University that empowers high school students to think like innovators and act like founders. Established in 2016 and redesigned as a focused 10-day experience, GSE immerses students in real-world problem-solving, design thinking, and the fundamentals of launching a startup \u2014 all on Marshall’s campus in Huntington, with access to the state-of-the-art Brad D. Smith Center for Business and Innovation.<\/p>\n

Working in teams alongside expert faculty, coaches, and industry mentors, students move from idea to action through hands-on workshops, interactive sessions, and collaborative projects. The experience culminates on Pitch Day, where each team presents their business concept to a panel of judges. Have you ever noticed a problem and thought, “Someone should do something about that!”? That’s entrepreneurship \u2013 seeing opportunities, imagining what’s possible, and taking action. We’re excited to have you join us for the GSE to explore, create, and challenge yourself in a fun, hands-on environment. You’ll learn to innovate and solve problems the same way that Intuit, Apple, AirBnB, and other world-leading companies do. Over 10 days, students will experience some of the Huntington’s most interesting attractions and find opportunities to help them innovate their way to even greater success.<\/p>\n

GSE was established in 2016 to empower students to turn their ideas into reality and create lasting change. Redesigned as a 10-day experience for 2026, the program focuses on real-world problem-solving and the process of launching a startup. Students will collaborate with peers, learn from industry experts, and use cutting-edge tools to design and pitch creative solutions.<\/p>\n

You will gain practical skills, build valuable networks with entrepreneurs, and experience the excitement of pitching ideas. Whether you want to start a business, make a difference in your community, or explore your creative potential, GSE offers the perfect opportunity to shape your future.<\/p>\n

Governor’s Schools are truly a community effort. Requested in the Governor’s budget and funded by the legislature, all Governor’s Schools of West Virginia are administered by the West Virginia Department of Education. Marshall University is proud to be the host institution for GSE 2026.<\/p>\n

2026 GSE Schedule<\/h2>\n\n\t\t\t\t\n \n

GSE check-in begins on Friday, July 17 at 8:00am (eat breakfast before you arrive!) and check-out ends Sunday, July 26 at 5:00pm.<\/p>\n

The GSE experience is focused on learning by doing. You will spend most of your time each day actively engaged in the creative work of innovation \u2013 generating, testing, refining, and preparing to share your big idea on the main stage at the Closing Banquet on the final night of GSE. Along the way you\u2019ll have interactive question and answer sessions with inspiring guest speakers, learn to use generative artificial intelligence (AI) to bring your ideas to life, and try your hand at 3D printing and other advanced technologies for prototyping and manufacturing products.
