Abbreviated Summer Prep

  • Because of COVID 19 and social distancing, this is the program that is replacing Summer Prep during the Summer of 2020

Abbreviated Summer Prep, a division of the College H.E.L.P. Program, has been developed for the summer of 2020. This is in response to COVID 19 requiring Marshall University and the H.E.L.P. Program to telecommute during the normal time of Summer Prep.  Abbreviated Summer Prep is a two- and half-day program that will introduce students to their academic responsibilities as university students and participants in College H.E.L.P. During Abbreviated Summer Prep, students will learn about the opportunities and resources available to them at the H.E.L.P. Center and at Marshall University.  This knowledge will provide them with a distinct advantage when they start the fall semester. We have found any form of a Summer Prep experience greatly improves the success rate of our students by building a solid foundation on which to start their academic careers at Marshall University.

Prepare for success

Incoming freshmen/transfer students accepted by College H.E.L.P. are strongly encouraged to attend the Abbreviated Summer Prep sessions offered on August 16th -August 18th, 2020.  They will move into their dormitories early on Saturday, August 15th, 2020 (at no extra cost to the student). Abbreviated Summer Prep will start at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 16th, 2020 in Myers Hall (the building that houses the H.E.L.P. Program) on Marshall University’s campus.

Abbreviated Summer Prep schedule:

  • Sunday, August 16th 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
  • Monday, August 17 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday, August 18th  8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Students will be released in time to start WOW with other students on Tuesday, August 18th.

Students are encouraged to participate in the full two-and half-day program to be fully prepared for the fall semester.

More information to follow in a packet which will be emailed to each student who has expressed interest in the Abbreviated Summer Prep Program.  That packet will probably be sent by email around the first of July, 2020.
