What is HerdCon?<\/h2>\n

Herdcon is March 5th & 6th, 2027. HerdCon is Marshall University\u2019s annual pop culture convention hosted by the University Libraries<\/a>. It’s an all ages free event at the Marshall University’s Huntington campus on Friday, March 5th and Saturday, March 6th. If you like cosplay, anime, ttrgs, and other nerdy endeavors, you’ll fit right in.<\/p>\n

**To enhance public safety, HerdCon has adopted a Clear Bag Policy. Attendees may bring in one (1) clear bag no larger than 12″ x 6″ x 12″ or a 1-gallon plastic storage bag. Attendees are limited to one clear bag per person, or a small clutch bag (no larger than 4.5″ x 6.5″) for privacy.**<\/strong><\/p>\n

How can I get involved with HerdCon?<\/h2>\n

We will be hosting our main event on March 7th, 2026.\u00a0 We plan to include events throughout the Memorial Student Center, outdoors, and in the Drinko Library this year. We are working with community organizations such as RCBI and Huntington to create some extra special events.\u00a0 If you\u2019re interested in getting involved with this year\u2019s HerdCon, please get involved.<\/p>\n

HerdCon staff and volunteers work hard to get the word out by attending various conventions and pop culture events on campus and throughout the Tri-state.\u00a0 Come by to see us at one of these upcoming events or follow our social media accounts for the latest news.<\/p>\n

Though we appreciate all of our volunteers, HerdCon helpers 17 and younger will need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Resident Cosplayers<\/h2>\n

Licia Rei of Kiss a Frog Cosplay<\/a> is an award winning, body-positive Cosplayer from Charleston, WV with a cosplay and J-Fashion career spanning 10 years. Her cosplay focus includes using natural hair wigs and textured styles for cosplay and portraying strong femme characters and Magical girls. She has been featured across the web by AFROPUNK, Black Girl Nerds, Anime Complexium, Art of Cosplay, Black Nerd Problems and many others! She has also been published in Cosplay Realm Magazine and has graced the cover of Cosplay Art & Photography magazine. She was also a featured cosplayer by Arda for her wig styling. Licia has been a guest at multiple conventions in the US and Canada, including Anime Expo with the Senpai Program. When not traveling for cosplay, or managing the Tsubasacon Majokko Maid Cafe, she enjoys baking, gaming, Star Wars, and TTRPGs. Her best-known cosplays are her Super Sailor Mars from Sailor Moon, Princess Serenity, and Princess Tiana.<\/span><\/p>\n

Katwoman Cosplay<\/a> is joining us again to be a part of our cosplay team! Katwoman is a veteran cosplayer who has led several cosplay classes in the area, including a recent one at the Y’allternative Art Spot in Williamson. They will be leading a panel on cosplay on Saturday. Be sure to check the panel schedule on our website for details. Katwoman will also be performing as part of our Friday Night SongAlong in BE5 at 6:30.<\/p>\n

HerdCon is a celebration of Marshall University’s nerd culture. We celebrate the achievements of our alumni, faculty, staff, students and the Marshall community.\u00a0 Students and community members design our t-shirts, local artists have artwork for sale, and student cosplayers take the stage in our annual Cosplay Contest.<\/p>\n\t\n\n\t
