Reserve Your Free Ticket Now<\/span>\n\t<\/a>\n\t\nHerdCon is excited to announce our special guests, Justin & Dr. Sydnee McElroy of the internationally known Sawbones podcast, who will be kicking off HerdCon 2023 with a live version of their podcast \u201cSawbones: A Marital Tour of Misguided Medicine\u201d at 1pm on Friday March 24th.<\/p>\nJustin McElroy grew up in Huntington WV, attended Marshall University, and has remained an active part of our community, raising funds and awareness for Harmony House, the Huntington Children\u2019s Museum, and working with our local theater group HART in the Park.\u00a0 He worked with the Ironton Tribune and eventually started working with Joystiq as a journalist, where he entered the podcasting realm as their producer for the Joystiq podcast.\u00a0 He went on to co-found Polygon in 2012, a website providing reviews, blogs, guides, and videos for a wide range of pop culture topics such as games, movies, television, comics, and more.<\/p>\n
In 2010, Justin began co-hosting a podcast with his brothers, Griffin & Travis McElroy, called \u201cMy Brother, My Brother and Me\u201d.\u00a0 Setup as a comedic advice podcast, it often highlighted their memories of growing up in Huntington, WV.\u00a0 The podcast later spawned a television show by the same name in 2017 and was filmed locally.<\/p>\n
In 2013, Justin and his wife Dr. Sydnee McElroy began the \u201cSawbones\u201d Podcast, providing a lighthearted, comedic and educational view of some of histories now debunked medical practices.\u00a0 Sawbones eventually spurred a book in 2018, The Sawbones Book: The Horrifying, Hilarious Road to Modern Medicine that was illustrated by their sibling Teylor Smirl.
\nDr. Sydnee Smirl McElroy is an alumnus of Marshall University and the Yeagar Scholar program, graduating from the Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine in 2009.\u00a0 Sydnee is currently an assistant professor at the Marshall University School of Medicine as well as a family doctor in our area, and has a passion for our community that can be seen in her work with Harmony House and her recent political big for the 2022 WV House of Delegates.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
