Marshall University would like to thank the Truist Foundation for its generous support for the University\u2019s Higher Learning Commission Quality Initiative, Building a Stronger and More Inclusive Marshall Community<\/em>.\u00a0 This year\u2019s theme is Complexities of Identity,<\/em> and Truist Foundation support has enabled us to offer the following enrichment opportunities for Marshall\u2019s students, faculty, staff, and members of the Huntington community during the fall 2022 semester.<\/p>\n August 30 \u2013 The Quality Initiative\u2019s inaugural lecture, Getting to Know Black Huntington<\/em>, presented by the author of Black Huntington: An Appalachian Story<\/em>, Dr. Cicero Fain III, Visiting Diversity Scholar, Marshall University.<\/p>\n September 13 \u2013 First Intercultural Dinner Group with Dr. Kateryna Schray, Director of Student Success and Professor of English, Marshall University; and Marshall\u2019s First Year Students.<\/p>\n September 27 \u2013 Second Intercultural Dinner Group with Dr. Kateryna Schray, Director of Student Success and Professor of English, Marshall University; and Marshall\u2019s First Year Students.<\/p>\n October 6 \u2013 Beyond Taco Tuesday: Complexities of Identity<\/em>, with guest lecturers Dr. Montserrat Miller, Executive Director, Drinko Academy, and Professor of History, Marshall University; Dr. Zelideth Rivas, Professor, Modern Languages, Marshall University; and Dr. Chris White, Professor, History, Marshall University.<\/p>\n October 11 \u2013 Third Intercultural Dinner Group with Dr. Kateryna Schray, Director of Student Success and Professor of English, Marshall University; guest speakers Dr. Montserrat Miller, Executive Director, Drinko Academy, and Professor of History, Marshall University; Dr. Chris White, Professor of History, Marshall University; and Marshall\u2019s First Year Students.<\/p>\n October 13 \u2013 Listening for Dia de Los Muertos: Latinx Music, Migration, and Memory in Appalachia and the South<\/em> with guest speaker Dr. Sophia Enriquez, Assistant Professor of Music, Duke University.<\/p>\n October 19 \u2013 From Restrictive Covenants to Redlining: An Interdisciplinary Art and Social Sciences Investigation of Housing Practices in 20th Century Working Class Huntington, WV and Dayton, OH<\/em> with speakers Dr. Cicero M.
