\n Increase students\u2019 readiness to work and live in a global and\/or otherwise diverse community by providing them opportunities to grow and learn through contact with others who come from cultures, races, or backgrounds different than their own.\n\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n \n \n \n

\n Increase access to the university by reducing barriers that disproportionately disadvantage people from underserved populations and provide needed support for success. \n\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n \n \n \n

Quality Initiative Alignments<\/h2>\n

Marshall University\u2019s proposed Quality Initiative (QI) has been developed to align with the university\u2019s mission<\/a> (approved April 25, 2019), strategic vision<\/a> (approved December 2020), and the university\u2019s proposal for transforming Marshall University into the research university of choice for chronically underserved students. The chart below shows these alignments.<\/p>\n

\nNew Endowment to Support Cultural Activities<\/strong>: a variety of concerts, lectures, and workshops aimed at students from chronically underserved communities; Campus image-the addition of artwork, sculpture, and imaging to make the campus recognizable as a welcoming space to diverse underserved communities. <\/td>\nVision statement<\/strong>: Development of “support services tailored for the success of students from chronically underserved communities.”

Cultivate the development of an inclusive, just, and equitable community.<\/p>\n

Maintain a dynamic intellectual, artistic, and cultural life by promoting and supporting research and creative activities by undergraduates, graduates, and faculty.<\/p>\n

Contribute to the quality of life of the community, region, and beyond through applied research, economic development, health care, and cultural enrichment.<\/td>\n

Pillar Four<\/strong>: Advance Civic and Economic Progress
\nObjective 1<\/strong>: Develop a stronger appreciation by surrounding communities for Marshall’s presence in Huntington by increased interaction with the community; and Objective 2<\/strong>: Develop a greater appreciation on the part of Marshall students for community service.<\/p>\n

Pillar Five<\/strong>: Invigorate Creative and Applied Scholarship.
\nObjective 3<\/strong>: Promote interdisciplinary cooperation in research.<\/td>\n
