{"id":6311,"date":"2022-09-30T14:28:21","date_gmt":"2022-09-30T18:28:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/honors\/?p=6311"},"modified":"2022-10-20T11:35:31","modified_gmt":"2022-10-20T15:35:31","slug":"counseling-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/honors\/2022\/09\/30\/counseling-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Honors College Counselor &amp; Mental Health Services"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>At the start of the 2020-2021 academic year, following increasing demand for mental health services by students of the college, the Honors College, Student Affairs, and the MU Counseling Center worked together to provide dedicated (but temporary) counseling services to Honor students. Within the first six months after this service commenced, twenty percent of the student population of the college was being served. Honors students seeking counseling have averaged 10 sessions with a counselor. According to the client-concerns intake, these students have suffered anxiety, depression, sleep issues, loneliness, perfectionism, and self-esteem issues. A new counselor, <strong>Alisha Martin<\/strong>, is now in a permanent position in the Counseling Center. She will be providing both group counseling sessions here in the college as well as individual appointments in the Counseling Center.<\/p>\n<p><em>For the Fall 2022 Semester, Alisha is offering the following for students in the Honors College<\/em>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>There are <em>10 group counseling sessions<\/em> titled \u201cMore than an Honors Student\u201d beginning on Friday, September 16, 2022, 11:00-12:00 in the Old Main Honors College 3rd Floor Small Seminar Room. This is all the way at the east end of the building on that floor in Room 353. Students do not have to register for all 10 sessions at once. Students can come and go as they please but should register for each session that they plan to attend. Students do not need to register.
