Designing your college experience starts now! Students can opt to live in an Interest-based Living learning Community (LLC) House. LLC Houses are spaces that foster integrated learning, provide opportunity for personal growth and development, promote social responsibility, and help students to become #OneOfTheHerd.

Interested in growing as a leader and find organizations and mentors to get involved with? We have got an LLC House for you! Interested in getting an advanced degree in dentistry, medicine, or pharmacy and looking to live by students who you can build study groups with? We’ve got an LLC House for you! Interested in living by your fellow gamers? We’ve got an LLC House for you!

Marshall University has the following Living learning Community (LLC) Houses options for you to choose from:

Location:

First Year Residence Hall-North

Art & Music House will provide students the opportunity to engage with a community of students also interested in Art & Music. This House will be open to all students and does not require a specific major or program of study to join. Members of this house will help their Resident Advisor (RA) determine the specific focus each year based on what they are interested in experiencing, learning about, and engaging in.

Business House will provide students the opportunity to explore the business world through a partnership with the College of Business (COB). This House is open to all Business and any non-Business majors. Members of this house will have an interest in deepening their professional business network, learning from the College of Business (COB) faculty, staff, and partners or developing their business knowledge base.

The Outdoor Adventures House invites students to explore West Virginia’s natural beauty, from scaling cliffs and trekking trails to finding a peaceful spot to hang a hammock. It’s open to all students who crave outdoor thrills and want to get their hands dirty in the wild and wonderful outdoors of campus and beyond.

Gaming Interest House will provide an opportunity for residents to build a virtual community for everyone to play their favorite games be it on a table or online. Whether you’re a pro or casual gamer, this house is a place for you! When you first move in, you’ll be sent a survey where you’ll establish what genre’s of gaming you’re interested in and added to the MU Gaming Interest House Discord server.

Honors House will provide an experiential and collaborative learning opportunity for residents to create purposeful links between academic, residential, and social components of the college experience. This House is open to all students who have been accepted into the Honors College at Marshall University.

Movies Interest House will provide students the opportunity to engage with a community of students also enjoy movies. This House will be open to all students and does not require a specific major or program of study to join. Members of this house will help their Resident Advisor (RA) determine the specific focus each year based on what they are interested in experiencing, learning about, and engaging in.

Pre-Health Science House will provide students the opportunity to engage with a community
of other students pursuing advanced degrees in the following concentrations: Dentistry Medicine, Pharmacy, Physical Therapy, Physician Assistant, and Veterinary studies. Pre-Health Science House members can form study groups, share common core science classes and develop a support system of faculty, staff and peers.

Science Interest House is a community who share interests in the Science field whether you are in the College of Science or just like a little Forensic Science, Criminal Justice or Chemistry on the side of their English degree, this is the place for you! Members of Science House will get the opportunity to learn about science in practice as well as form study groups and perhaps even get a tour of the on-campus Crime Scene House or get to try homemade nitrogen Ice Cream.

Student Support Services (SSS) House helps support your personal and academic development and tools to navigate campus. This House will have shared academic classes for its members. Students in this House are participants in the TRIO program at Marshall University, which is income-eligible for first-generation college students.

Safe Space House is ideal for students wanting to embrace diversity in a safe and affirming environment that brings together LGBTQ+ students and allies on a gender-neutral floor to freely explore issues of gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, and the intersection of those while advocating for awareness and social justice.
