Below is the schedule for the holidays observed by Marshall University. Please note<\/strong>, some holidays are be observed on differing dates due to winter break.\u00a0 When Christmas Day and New Year\u2019s Day fall on a Tuesday through Friday, these are preceded by a half-day each of holidays.\u00a0 Marshall University observes these two half-days as one whole day off.\u00a0\u00a0 Naming of holidays is in accordance with West Virginia State Code Section 2-2-1.\u00a0\u00a0http:\/\/www.wvlegislature.gov\/WVCODE\/ChapterEntire.cfm?chap=02&art=2&section=1<\/a><\/p>\n

Employees will receive an accrual usage email from the Chief Talent and Culture Officer the Wednesday after payroll closes. This email includes updated balances after accruals and any leave taken during the most recent payroll period. Employees are expected to follow departmental notification procedures regarding nonscheduled time off work. At the time of notification\/call, the employee must notify their supervisor when an absence is due to a documented\/approved leave of absence (e.g. Military Leave, FMLA) in order to ensure appropriate tracking of leave utilization and absenteeism. Likewise, Managers are encouraged to verify with the employee if the absence is for a condition that has already been approved.
