While most Federal Work-Study positions are located on campus,\u00a0there are numerous opportunities for students to work off-campus performing community service work at nearby non-profit agencies. The amount of your FWS offer as indicated in your Financial Aid Package is the maximum you are allowed to earn over the course of the academic year. You will be paid directly for FWS earnings every two weeks. FWS awards are not credited to your student account.<\/p>\n<h2>Community Work-Study<\/h2>\n<p>A student may be employed off campus under the Federal Work-Study Program by a federal, state, or local public agency, or by a private nonprofit organization. The work must be performed \u201cin the public interest\u201d for the national or community welfare, rather than for a particular interest or group.\u00a0 Students will gain professional experience in various career paths that may interest them.<\/p>\n<p>Once you have been selected, please complete the following checklist to ensure all tasks have been completed.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Step 1 &#8211; <\/strong>Complete your<a href=\"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/human-resources\/files\/I9-Form-New.pdf\"> I9<\/a> <strong>in person<\/strong> at the Human Resource Services offices, located in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/map\/\">Old Main, Room 207<\/a> . If you are unable to complete the I9 in person, please contact us at 304-696-6844 or <a href=\"mailto:human-resources@marshall.edu\">human-resources@marshall.edu<\/a> for alternative methods if you unable to come in person.\n<ul>\n<li>The documents you must present for the I9 form are l<a href=\"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/human-resources\/files\/I-9-Documents-1.png\">inked here<\/a>. <strong>Please note: You must present the original, unexpired documents in person. <\/strong>We cannot accept copies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Step 2<\/strong>: Complete your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/finance\/forms\/#pay\">state and federal tax forms<\/a> in person in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/map\/\">Payroll Office in Old Main, Room 203.<\/a> If you are unable to complete the forms in person, please contact Payroll at 304-696-6457 or <a href=\"mailto:payroll@marshall.edu\">payroll@marshall.edu<\/a> .\n<ul>\n<li>You will also set up your direct deposit. Please have verification of account including the account and routing numbers. These may be obtained from your bank in the form of a voided check, counter check, or a letter of verification. If you do online banking, you may email your account information to the payroll office. This <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/human-resources\/files\/Direct-Deposit-Set-Up-Bank-Suppoting-Documentation-Phone-App.pdf\">direct-deposit document<\/a>\u00a0provides instructions for accessing this information for local banking institutions.<\/li>\n<li>Please include your name and MU ID number on any correspondence with the payroll office.<\/li>\n<li>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/finance\/payroll-calendar\/\">payroll calendar<\/a> lists the date of hire and the date of your first pay.
