The new thresholds account for growth in employee earnings since the thresholds were last updated in 2004.<\/p>\n<p>In the final rule, the Department is:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>raising the \u201cstandard salary level\u201d from the currently enforced level of $455 per week to $684 per week (equivalent to $35,568 per year for a full-year worker);<\/li>\n<li>raising the total annual compensation requirement for \u201chighly compensated employees\u201d from the currently enforced level of $100,000 per year to $107,432 per year;<\/li>\n<li>allowing employers to use nondiscretionary bonuses and incentive payments (including commissions) paid at least annually to satisfy up to 10% of the standard salary level, in recognition of evolving pay practices<\/li>\n<li><strong>The final rule is effective on January 1, 2020.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>How and When does this change affect Marshall University?<\/h2>\n<p>As a result of these changes, the University will be increasing\u00a0 the number of non-exempt\/hourly employees.<\/p>\n                                            \n        \n    <div\n        id=\"how-does-this-change-impact-marshall\"\n        x-data=\"accordion('how-does-this-change-impact-marshall', false)\"\n        class=\"rounded-lg overflow-hidden mb-2 transition-all duration-300 ease-out bg-gray-50\"\n        x-bind:class=\"expanded ?
