The John Marshall Service Award recognizes staff that supports our vision by providing exceptional service to our students, coworkers, and the community in which we serve.<\/p>\n<p>Do you know of a staff member in the Marshall University family who has gone above and beyond the call of duty to provide outstanding customer service?\u00a0 Who goes the extra mile to help out or strives to bring out the \u201cWe Are Marshall\u201d spirit in others?\u00a0 If you do, please take the time to nominate him\/her for the John Marshall Service Award.<\/p>\n<p>To help nominators prepare strong submissions, the committee encourages including examples of service that exceeds normal job responsibilities or is performed outside of regular work hours. Examples include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Service outside assigned job duties: Voluntary participation in programs, initiatives, or events not required in the nominee\u2019s position; contributions that advance Marshall beyond formal role responsibilities.<\/li>\n<li>Giving back outside work time: Volunteer commitments on personal time that support Marshall (e.g., helping or hosting events, organizing activities, representing Marshall in the community).<\/li>\n<li>Student support beyond role requirements: Advising student organizations not tied to assigned duties; informal mentoring; accompanying students on trips, conferences, competitions, or service activities outside regular hours.<\/li>\n<li>Leadership and campus impact: Creating new programs, filling gaps, or leading efforts that improve campus culture, inclusion, morale, or institutional effectiveness.<\/li>\n<li>Community engagement that benefits Marshall: Volunteer or civic work that reflects positively on the university, builds partnerships, or enhances Marshall\u2019s visibility and reputation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Tip<\/strong>: When describing these activities, please include what was done, when, the time commitment, and specific outcomes\/impact.<\/p>\n<p>Any classified or non-classified employee from Marshall University, Marshall University Research Corporation, or The Marshall University Foundation, Inc. may be nominated for consideration.\u00a0 Nominees must be non-probationary, benefits eligible employees with at least one year of continuous employment.
