We feel that to have this positive experience, a successful on-boarding experience is essential.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Marshall needs to ensure new hires feel welcome, appreciated, and are able to develop a sense of purpose and belonging within the university and community. What&#8217;s at stake? Email)<\/em> to your department about their new team member and their background.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Have a Training Plan &#8211; Allow yourself time to create this.\u00a0 Things to consider:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Who will be training your new employee for their new role?<\/li>\n<li>If you don\u2019t have a training manual for the position, create a plan of what you want to cover with your new hire in an order that makes sense. Recommend a weekly training plan for the first 1 to two months as applicable.<\/li>\n<li>Create as many prepared documents\/handouts as possible so that the new hire doesn\u2019t spend valuable training time trying to take notes on everything \u2013 so they can follow along with your training &amp; have something to refer back to.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Shortly before the start date (Recommend one week prior to start date), notify your employee of the following:\u00a0<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Date and time to arrive the first day<\/li>\n<li>Where to report and who to report to<\/li>\n<li>Shift\/schedule details (shift hours, how long for lunch, etc)<\/li>\n<li>Their work address and phone number<\/li>\n<li>Parking information<\/li>\n<li>Expectations for the first few days on the job<\/li>\n<li>What to bring with them day one\u00a0 (check back with the department)<\/li>\n<li>What to wear<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Mentor or &#8220;Buddy&#8221;<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>CHOOSE WISELY!<\/strong>\u00a0 Select a member from your department\/college to be a mentor or buddy for your new hire \u2013 This should be a team member that is a good performer\/strong work ethic with a positive attitude, that models how to conduct themselves.\u00a0 Show them around Dept\/building(s); lunch\/break rooms; how to order supplies; Make introductions to the team and who does what and what each person is responsible for. Show them how to get logged onto their computer and review DB\u2019s they will use (TCP; MyMUetc.)\u00a0 Review Job duties\/responsibilities; Policies, attendance, dress code for the dept., etc \u2013 and answer general questions they may have.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Set up new Employee\u2019s Workstation (if applicable).<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>This can include a desk and\/or computer. Provide your employee with an office that is in \u201cmove-in\u201d condition.\n<ul>\n<li>For workstation setup (computer) the policy is that the computer belongs to a position number and not a person. If the employee is replacing a previous employee, they will use the previous employees machine. If it is a new position to the university, the supervisor needs to submit a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/it\/computer-request\/\">computer request form<\/a>.\u00a0 computer.<\/li>\n<li>In order to get everything set up and ready for your employee, the department\/supervisor will need to create an IT support ticket. They can do this by calling the service desk at 63200 or emailing the service desk.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Set up phone<\/li>\n<li>Have office keys ready<\/li>\n<li>Make sure necessary office supplies are available, and where they are kept and how to order<\/li>\n<li>Order business cards if necessary\/possible.<\/li>\n<li>Make sure your new employee is added to departmental\/college email lists<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n                            <\/div>\n        <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n        \n    <div\n        id=\"your-employees-first-week-2\"\n        x-data=\"accordion('your-employees-first-week-2', false)\"\n        class=\"rounded-lg overflow-hidden mb-2 transition-all duration-300 ease-out bg-gray-50\"\n        x-bind:class=\"expanded ? If the PAR has not been completely processed, the employee will not be able to clock in-and out (if required).<\/li>\n<li>If you will be approving leave\/time for your new\u00a0 employee, you will need to request approve access for TCP by filling out the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/finance\/files\/2013\/02\/BannerTSApprovalPathReq-Blank.pdf\">request form<\/a>. If you have questions, or need additional assistance, contact <a href=\"mailto:tcp@marshall.edu\">tcp@marshall.edu<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Meet with your Employee.<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Set aside time in your calendar to meet with your new employee the first few days and weeks.<\/li>\n<li>Meet to discuss the job description, performance expectations, time and leave, etc and begin training<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Create\/Consider a Schedule for New Employee during the First-Week to include.<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>The schedule should include time with others, down time, and time on their own to read appropriate material for the department\/college such as:\n<ul>\n<li>One-on-one or small group meetings with other team members. During these meetings,<br \/>\nco-workers can discuss their duties and how they interact with the new employee.<\/li>\n<li>Show new employee around campus.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Update your Employees Work Information in Banner\u00a0<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>If your employees departmental information (work address, phone number) was not given to them before their first day, please update their information in Banner by completing the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/human-resources\/forms-2\/\">Employee Data Corrections Form<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Emergency Contacts.<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Determine your new employees emergency contact information<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n                            <\/div>\n        <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n        \n    <div\n        id=\"your-employees-first-30-days-3\"\n        x-data=\"accordion('your-employees-first-30-days-3', false)\"\n        class=\"rounded-lg overflow-hidden mb-2 transition-all duration-300 ease-out bg-gray-50\"\n        x-bind:class=\"expanded ?
