All applicants, regardless of citizenship, must provide proof of English proficiency to be considered for admission to Marshall University. All English proficiency requirements are listed below. If one or more of the exemption conditions is met, applicants may be considered exempt from providing standardized exam scores for proof of English proficiency.<\/p>\n

Exemptions<\/h2>\n

If one of the following criteria are met, exam scores will not be required, and the proof of English proficiency requirement will be met:<\/p>\n

All Applicants\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

  • Completion of the equivalent to a United States post-secondary degree from an accepted, accredited institution in an approved country where the primary language is English.<\/strong> (See list below.)<\/li>\n
  • One year of full-time study (24 Undergraduate or 18 Graduate credit hours) earned at a United States-accepted and accredited university.<\/li>\n
  • Transfer credit equivalent to ENG 101 from an accepted, accredited institution with grade of C or better.<\/li>\n
  • Successful completion of an approved ESL program.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
