Adobe Creative Cloud

Marshall University students, faculty and staff who require the Adobe Creative Cloud software as part of their academic program or job function now have new and expanded access to this software suite.

This licensing enhancement expands the use to not only select University-owned computers, but also allows installation on an additional device including a personally-owned computer. This new capability is called ‘named-user-licensing’ and will be accessible via single-sign-on with your MUNet account credentials.

The University is funding this initiative for specific academic programs and business units. Named-user licensing will allow students, faculty, and staff to install and run the complete Adobe Creative Cloud Suite on up to two computers that they use, including their own personal computer, but is limited to one active computer at a time.

The Adobe Creative Cloud is the ultimate collection of industry standard tools for the creation and delivery of print, Web, and video content to mobile devices and desktops.

Are You Eligible?

Eligible Students include those enrolled in a major under the College of Arts and Media (CAM) and other select courses. Students enrolled in an eligible course outside of CAM may request access for the duration of the approved course’s term.  Check my eligibility.

If a student needs access to Adobe Creative Cloud software for a specific course, please ask your instructor to complete the online request form to Request Access to Adobe Creative Cloud apps.  If your use is not course-related, then you may want to consider purchasing a personal license through Adobe Creative Cloud with an educational discount. Users with active license assignments (personal and enterprise) may use the Adobe Creative Cloud applications in one of our technology labs and designated classrooms across campus.

Users with active licenses (personal and enterprise) may use the Adobe applications in one of our technology labs or classrooms across campus.

Faculty and Staff – Faculty and Staff who need access to Adobe Creative Cloud apps for their academic or administrative work should complete the online request form to create their license assignment.

Legacy Support of Adobe Creative Suite 6 – Adobe discontinued support and updates for their Creative Suite 6 (CS6) product in 2014. This product will no longer be available in IT University Computing Facility labs starting Fall 2018 and new faculty and staff computer installs. Existing Adobe CS6 installs on campus computers will continue to function, but they will no longer be supported by the IT Service Desk. Departments should plan on discontinuing their use of CS6 by the end of AY18-19 (May 2019).

Do I need Adobe Creative Cloud?

Alternatives to Adobe Premium Products – You may discover that you no longer need the premium features of Adobe Creative Cloud to do many of the creative tasks that you’re used to doing. Did you know that the current versions of Microsoft Windows and Apple macOS include built-in functionality which previously required a separate software install (e.g. viewing and printing to a PDF file, basic photo and video editing)? Also, did you know that the Adobe Acrobat Reader now includes a number of features previously only found in Acrobat Pro (e.g. view, print, sign, annotate, comment and share PDFs)? – for free without an Adobe Creative Cloud account.  Check out our page for comparisons between Acrobat Reader and Creative Cloud.

Free Subscription

What can I use for free? When you create a standard free account you are able to freely download Adobe Spark, which gives you the ability to create stunning graphics, web pages, and video stories.

Adobe Creative Cloud has mobile apps that are also free for download on the Apple Store as well as the Google Play Store. These applications include: Photoshop Mix, Photoshop Sketch, Illustrator Draw, Premier Clip, etc. A standard free Adobe account is required to download to access these tools.

How to Install?

The Adobe Creative Cloud Suite is available for eligible users.  Follow the installation instructions.
