Marshall University campus network, MUNet, provides extremely fast Internet service at rates over 100 times the speed of a 56K modem connection. Computers must be equipped with an Ethernet card in order to connect to the network and to use this service.<\/p>\n

Connectivity at Marshall<\/h2>\n

Wired Access:<\/strong>
\n10\/100\/1000\/2500\/5000\/10000 Mbps wired network service is available to all faculty, staff, and residence hall locations. Marshall\u2019s campus-wide network, MUNet, is a fiber\u2011optic\u2013backed system that connects every campus building, four remote campuses, and School of Medicine facilities, supporting more than 15,000 users and 3,000 workstations.<\/p>\n

Internet Backbone:<\/strong>
\nMarshall University provides internet access through a high\u2011speed, fully redundant 7\u202fGb internet connection, ensuring reliability and performance. The University also supports the research and education community with a separate 7\u202fGb Internet2 connection. MUNet serves as the lifeblood of the University, enabling client\/server computing, IP telephony, video services, and academic research.<\/p>\n

Wireless Access:<\/strong>
\nMarshall offers pervasive, campus\u2011wide Wi\u2011Fi connectivity for students, faculty, and staff. Wireless services support academic, administrative, and residential needs across all University locations and are a core component of the MUNet environment.<\/p>\n

\nGuest and eduroam wireless services are available for non\u2011university individuals. Students, faculty, and staff may create temporary guest wireless accounts for visitors by following these instructions or by visiting\u00a0sponsor.marshall.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n

If you are responsible for a computer on the Universities network that provides Internet services like a web server, FTP server, or file server to an off-campus computer, please let us know so we can configure the firewall to accommodate these services.<\/p>\n

To request a change, please contact the IT Service Desk and have the following information available about the static mapping request; the name of the system that needs an exception set, the IP address, and any specific ports you need open for this system. Yes! If you are using the virtual private network (VPN) service, you can access University systems from off-campus without the need for firewall exceptions. Telecommunication Services<\/h2>\n
Marshall University provides enterprise telecommunication services through Microsoft Teams, which serves as the university\u2019s primary phone system (PBX). This platform enables direct dialing, extension-based internal calling, voicemail, call routing, and integration with collaboration tools across all campuses and affiliated facilities.
