The mission of the Information Security Office is to support the goals of Marshall University and the Division of Information Technology by providing technological expertise and resources to ensure the confidentiality, availability, and integrity of your information.<\/p>\n

Whether it\u2019s securing our personal computing devices with updated anti-malware software, reporting suspicious messages or computer activity through the incident response team, or reviewing video training and frequently-asked-question tips featuring the guidance of trusted security professions, each of us has a role to play.<\/p>\n

MUIT Information Security strongly recommends using antivirus software and keeping operating systems up-to-date. Microsoft Defender Advanced Threat Protection is an antivirus\/anti-malware software solution which is offered to all Marshall-owned devices. Students and employees can use free antivirus software<\/a> (KB Article) on personally owned devices.<\/p>\n\n\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n \n \n \n

MUIT InfoSec Resources<\/a> contains a variety of topics and web resources intended to help you protect your personal and our institutional data. The world of cybersecurity is constantly changing. Every day, cyber-criminals are trying new ways to trick unsuspecting users into sharing their logon credentials or installing malicious software onto their network connected devices. An informed and wary user will be less likely to fall prey to online scams.
