Important update for all active Marshall University e-mail accountholders including students, faculty, staff (MU, SOM, and Marshall Health) and Alumni.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Marshall University Information Technology\u00a0will introduce\u00a0an updated e-mail security solution provided by Microsoft in\u00a0January 2021<\/b>.\u00a0\u00a0In addition to anti-virus and anti-spam protection, the Microsoft\u00a0Defender for Office 365 service improves security for both incoming and outgoing email. This will provide advanced protection against fraudulent email for our students, faculty and staff.<\/p>\n

When will this occur?<\/b><\/p>\n

Availability of Microsoft Defender for Office 365 is scheduled for\u00a0Wednesday, January 6, 2021<\/b>.<\/p>\n

Who does this affect?<\/b><\/p>\n

This update affects all Marshall University mailboxes including student, faculty,\u00a0and staff, and alumni.<\/p>\n

What do I need to do?<\/b><\/p>\n

No action needs to be taken on your part. Just keep an eye out for Spam Notifications which will come from\u00a0quarantine@messaging.microsoft.com<\/a>. You might receive an email periodically notifying you of messages that are in quarantine. If you do not receive these notifications, it means you have no new email in your quarantine.<\/p>\n

What will the new Spam Notifications look like?<\/b><\/p>\n

The new Spam Notifications will come from\u00a0quarantine@messaging.microsoft.com<\/a>\u00a0with the Subject \u201cSpam Notifications: [x] New Messages<\/i>\u201d.<\/p>\n
