Byrd Institute (RBCI) will be hosting this year\u2019s Fourth Annual West Virginia Makes Festival on Marshall University&#8217;s Memorial Student Center Plaza, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., this Friday, October 6th, 2017. \u00a0This Festival is a celebration of the ingenuity and creativity of makers statewide as well as initiators closer to home.\u00a0 \u00a0Marshall University\u2019s Information Technology division will be represented by students in our intern program.<\/p>\n<p>There will be interactive demonstrations given by the interns, including an IT Service Desk queue manager, digital signage providing information on access to available lab computers, cognitive facial recognition, wifi router installation project, and the primer of the IT Chatbot Assistant.\u00a0 The IT Service desk will soon be able to access MU students\u2019 basic information allowing them to sign in and schedule appointments by simply tapping their MUID.\u00a0 Visitors to the Drinko Library and Information Center will now be able to track the availability of computers in the building, allowing students to see which devices are accessible on each floor of the library.\u00a0 A new facial recognition system will be implemented in Drinko to improve security and monitor access to restricted rooms.\u00a0 In addition, the Marshall website will be premiering an IT Chatbot Assistant to help assist students and staff with various troubleshooting scenarios.<\/p>\n<p>Click for further information on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rcbi.org\/index.php\/about\/events\/40-rcbi-events\/193-west-virginia-makes\">WV Makes Festival<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Additional information regarding the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/it\/community\/tierlab\">MUIT TIER Lab<\/a> and how to become an intern.<\/p>\n<p>Marshall University Information Technology Contact: <a href=\"mailto:crystal.stewart@marshall.edu\">crystal.stewart@marshall.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>-Kristin Salustro, MUIT Marketing Intern<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; West\u00a0Virginia Makes Festival- October 6th, 2017 The Robert C.
