Page Pitt School of Journalism and Mass Communications offers a<strong>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/jmc\/files\/2013\/11\/MediaMftflyer.pdf\">Media Management Graduate Certificate<\/a>.<\/strong> \u00a0The fifteen hour program\u00a0targets specific areas of development that will augment depth of knowledge or skills, help students remain competitive in the job market, advance their careers, or help them pursue personal enrichment. Students may complete a stand alone certificate or incorporate it into their JMC master\u2019s program or other master\u2019s programs on campus.<\/p>\n<p>Individuals interested in completing a certificate, either as a standalone program or as part of a master\u2019s, must submit an application specifically for the certificate.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Required courses:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>JMC 603\u2014Media Management<\/li>\n<li>JMC 604\u2014Journalism and Mass Communications Law and Ethics<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Select nine hours from among the following:<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>JMC 510\u2014Magazine Editorial Practice<\/li>\n<li>JMC 533\u2014Radio-Television Programming<\/li>\n<li>JMC 536\u2014International Communications<\/li>\n<li>JMC 550\u2014Contemporary Issues in RTV<\/li>\n<li>JMC 555\u2014Women and Minorities in the Media<\/li>\n<li>JMC 632\u2014Public Broadcasting<\/li>\n<li>JMC 612\u2014History of Mass Communications<\/li>\n<li>JMC 641\u2014Web\/Online Strategies<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Admission to the certificate programs requires:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>official transcript baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college or university,<\/li>\n<li>an application for admission to a certificate program,<\/li>\n<li>at least a 2.5 undergraduate GPA, and<\/li>\n<li>a 3.0 graduate GPA if already awarded a master\u2019s degree,<\/li>\n<li>OR current admission to a Marshall University graduate program.<\/li>\n<li>Courses completed in certificate programs can apply to an MAJ where appropriate. (Students who want to apply certificate credit to a master\u2019s must meet all admission requirements for the MAJ including completion of the GRE.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Students must maintain a 3.0 GPA in all course work with no more than two C\u2019s. A student who successfully completes the defined series of courses will earn a certificate.<\/p>\n<p><em>Make your mark.
