Page Pitt School of Journalism and Mass Communications offers a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.marshall.edu\/jmc\/files\/2013\/11\/MAJflyer.pdf\">Master of Arts In Journalism<\/a>.  Students may choose from <strong>professional<\/strong> or <strong>thesis<\/strong> tracks to complete the required 30 credit hours.<\/p>\n<h2>Professional<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Professional track<\/strong> students must complete the core, 15 hours in a concentration determined in consultation with the academic advisor, any undergraduate courses determined necessary by the graduate advisor and successful completion of a comprehensive examination.<\/p>\n<h2>Required CORE Courses<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>JMC 600\u2014Proseminar in Graduate Studies<\/li>\n<li>JMC 601\u2014Theory of Mass Communication<\/li>\n<li>JMC 602\u2014Mass Communications Research<\/li>\n<li>JMC 604\u2014JMC Law and Ethics<\/li>\n<li>JMC 612\u2014History of Mass Communication<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Background Courses<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>JMC 501\u2014Multi-Media Writing (required if no JMC background)<\/li>\n<li>EDF or PSY 517\u2014Statistical Methods\/Intermediate Behavioral Statistics (required if no statistics background)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Remaining Courses<\/h2>\n<p>Remaining hours are planned in consultation with academic advisor and guided by student objectives.<\/p>\n<h2>Thesis Track<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Thesis track<\/strong> students complete the core, nine credit hours in a concentration determined in consultation with the academic advisor, a six-credit hour thesis, any undergraduate courses determined necessary by the graduate advisor and successful completion of a comprehensive examination.
