2018

Retained, but with a warning to parents. A parent of a 6th-grader in Duval (FL) County objected to assigned reading of Bad Boy, citing the inclusion of the word “penis,” a homophobic slur, drug use, gang violence, and the questioning of religion. The school district stated it would warn parents before assigning the memoir.
