The information is provided to let people know what has been banned\/challenged elsewhere.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>2018<\/h2>\n<p>A School board in Brevard (FL) county decided to keep the textbook in 9th-grade classrooms, amid complaints that its chapter on Islam &#8220;painted Mohammad and the treatment of women in an overly favorable light.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h2>2017<\/h2>\n<p>Challenged in the Sullivan County (TN) school system because a parent said the textbook &#8220;promotes Islamic propaganda.&#8221; The parent is being represented by Freedom X, a California-based, self-described conservative Christian group with a website that states it fights Islamic indoctrination in U.S. schools. &#8220;This will not go away.
