The information is provided to let people know what has been banned\/challenged elsewhere.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>2017<\/h2>\n<p>Challenged at the Yulee Middle School in Nassau County (FL). Two parents complained; one said, &#8220;It&#8217;s telling kids to rebel against parents. It&#8217;s telling them it&#8217;s OK to party, drink, cuss and do other obscene things in the book.<\/p>\n<h2>2011<\/h2>\n<p>Retained in the Ponus Ridge Middle School library in Norwalk (CN). While some critics decry its style as &#8220;grammatically incorrect,&#8221; most who take exception point to its &#8220;foul language,&#8221; sexual content, and questionable sexual behavior. It is the first book written entirely in the format of instant messaging &#8211; the title itself is a shorthand reference to &#8220;talk to you later.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h2>2010<\/h2>\n<p>Challenged, but retained at the John Muir Middle School library in Wausau (WI) despite a parent&#8217;s request that the book be removed because of sexually explicit content. Retained in the Ponus Ridge Middle School library in Norwalk (CN). While many critics decry its style as &#8220;grammatically incorrect,&#8221; most who take exception point to its foul language, sexual content, and questionable sexual behavior.<\/p>\n<h2>2009<\/h2>\n<p>Challenged in the Round Rock (TX) Independent School District middle school library due to the book&#8217;s descriptions of sex, porn, alcohol, and inappropriate teacher-student relationships. The school offers parents the ability to tell the school if they do not want their children to check out particular books at the library.<\/p>\n<h2>2008<\/h2>\n<p>Challenged at the William Floyd Middle School library in Mastic (NY) because the book includes &#8220;curse words, crude references to the male and female anatomy, sex acts and adult situations like drinking alcohol and flirtation with a teacher that almost goes too far.&#8221; A spokesperson for the William Floyd School District said the book will remain in the library and that the book is very popular with students across the country.
