The information is provided to let people know what has been banned\/challenged elsewhere.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>2021<\/h2>\n<p>A parent of a Columbus (WI) Elementary School student requested this picture book\u2019s removal from the school library. \u201cMy objection to this is not about homosexuality,\u201d said the parent, \u201cbut on the appropriateness of the subject matter, particularly for children under 8 years of age. Young children have an innocence they cannot regain when exposed to such material. This book not only encourages cross-dressing, it undermines the authority of parents by making the neighbor the hero when parents objected.\u201d  Other community parents spoke in favor of retaining the book.
