They say “if you don’t use it, you lose it,” and it’s true for our brains as much as our brawn. If you have been looking for a way to keep your mind active while interacting with engaging speakers, compelling instructors, and a cohort of like-minded learners on a regular basis, the Lifelong Learning Program at Marshall University is for you!<\/p>\n

Launched in April 2018, the LLP was a dream of many members of the Huntington community who had experienced similar programs at other institutions or knew of them through friends. <\/p>\n

The LLP has grown quickly and offers members a wide variety of learning opportunities. The program is comprised of adults, mostly 55 and older, who have a quest for knowledge. The members are mature learners in the community who wish to engage in stimulating and fun discussions and activities, and all share a common interest in continuing learning experiences and intellectual stimulation.<\/p>\n

“Marshall University’s LLP, begun in 2018, is a fantastic resource available to Huntington area adults who never want to stop learning, but don\u2019t have the time or desire to be part of a full semester class . “We can all stay in our homes and learn, by reading books and other publications, watching the television, even “scrolling” through social media.\u00a0 But if we do, we miss out on “community learning,” what we experienced during most of our educational and working years.\u00a0 With community learning, we learn with others in the room.\u00a0 The Lifelong Learning Program provides a community learning setting where we learn from our speakers in person, and we get to listen to or share different perspectives of what we learn with our fellows in the room.\u00a0 Come join and enjoy the Lifelong Learning Program community learning experience while you still can.\u00a0!”<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t\n\t\t\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\n\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n

“When I retired in 2013 I had created a “list” of involvements that I wanted to do, experience, and to be able to contribute my skills and interests. I became more involved in the Huntington area especially activities related to Marshall. In 2018 when the Marshall Lifelong Learning began I joined! And, the last six years have been so exciting to experience talks, events, tours, and new learnings. To hear, learn, and experience so much that I did not know. Oh, the variety of learnings with an excellent balance of topics, places, skills, and interests!
