Travel information

The central campus of the university is located in Huntington, WV between 16th Street and 20th Street, and between 3rd Avenue and 5th Avenue.

Arriving by car from the north

Huntington, WV is located on the Ohio River. The main access is by U.S. 52 from the northwest, or U.S. 7 from the northeast. There are three bridges across the Ohio River in Huntington, none of which has a toll.

It is also possible to take I-77 or I-79 south to Charleston, WV and then take I-64 west from Charleston to Huntington. The best exist is #11, Hal Greer Blvd (16th Street).

Arriving by car from the south, east, or west

Huntington, WV is adjacent to Interstate 64. The best exist is #11, Hal Greer Blvd (16th Street).

Road Construction on I-64

There is significant road construction on Interstate 64 between mile markers 24 and 44, between Huntington and Charleston, WV. Drivers arriving from the east should expect delays. An alternate route is US 60 from Charleston to Huntington.

West Virginia Turnpike (I-77) Tolls

Interstate 77 between Charleston, WV and Beckley, WV is the West Virginia Turnpike. There are three toll plazas along the way, each of which requires an EZ-Pass transponder or a cash toll of $2.00, for a total one-way cash cost of $6.00. Credit and debit cares are not accepted. More information.

Arriving by air

The nearest airport is the Tri-State Airport (HTS), approximately 10 miles west of Huntington. Shuttles are available to downtown hotels – please contact the hotel directly before arriving.

The Yeager Airport (CRW), located in Charleston, WV, is approximately 60 miles east of Huntington.
