The Area of Emphasis in Mathematical Statistics<\/em> opens a window of job opportunities in the business, government, industry, and health sectors; and provides a sound preparation for further studies in statistics. Students pursuing a major in Pure Mathematics<\/em> or Applied Mathematics<\/em> may also pursue an Area of Emphasis in Mathematical Statistics<\/em>; additional coursework may be required. The Area of Emphasis in Mathematical Statistics<\/em> is not intended for students pursuing a major in Mathematical Statistics<\/em>.<\/p>\n
