During <strong>Fiscal Year 2026\u20132027<\/strong>, the Initiative secured <strong>approximately $2.2 million<\/strong> in grant funding to support programs that improve health outcomes, expand access to care, strengthen the public health workforce, and reduce health disparities across West Virginia.<\/p>\n<h2>Total Grant-Funded Initiatives (FY 2026\u20132027)<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Total Grant Funding:<\/strong> <strong>Approximately $2.2 Million<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>Current Grant-Funded Research &amp; Initiatives<\/h2>\n<h3>WellPoint of West Virginia \u2013 Community Investment Grant<\/h3>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Supports community health improvement efforts through health education, chronic disease prevention, behavioral health awareness, community outreach, and strategic partnerships that improve health equity and access to care for underserved populations across West Virginia.<\/p>\n<h3>U.S. Department of Education Grant<\/h3>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Supports the Community Health Certificate Program at Marshall University by preparing Community Health Workers and strengthening West Virginia&#8217;s public health workforce through education, prevention, and community engagement.<\/p>\n<h3>Transformation Initiative (TTI) Grant<\/h3>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Supports statewide behavioral health initiatives focused on prevention, early intervention, youth leadership development, workforce collaboration, and reducing behavioral health disparities among youth and young adults.<\/p>\n<h3>WV Training, Support &amp; Outreach Grant<\/h3>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\"><strong>Funding Agency:<\/strong> Bureau for Behavioral Health \u2013 Office of Programs and Policy<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Supports statewide behavioral health education, technical assistance, workforce development, and community outreach. Funding supports the <strong>Training for a Change<\/strong> initiative, including regional Youth Early Diversion Workshops and the <strong>2nd Annual Training for a Change: West Virginia Youth Early Diversion Provider Conference<\/strong>, promoting prevention, early intervention, and coordinated systems of care.<\/p>\n<h3>Miscellaneous Grants &amp; Community Partnerships<\/h3>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Supports special projects, community outreach events, health fairs, educational programming, research activities, and collaborative initiatives that address emerging public health and behavioral health needs throughout West Virginia.<\/p>\n<h2>Impact<\/h2>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Through more than <strong>$2.2 million in grant-funded initiatives<\/strong>, the West Virginia Minority Health Initiative continues to:<\/p>\n<ul data-spread=\"false\">\n<li>Advance health equity across West Virginia.<\/li>\n<li>Expand access to healthcare and behavioral health services.<\/li>\n<li>Strengthen the public health workforce.<\/li>\n<li>Increase education and prevention efforts.<\/li>\n<li>Support youth, families, and underserved communities.<\/li>\n<li>Foster collaboration among healthcare providers, universities, state agencies, faith-based organizations, and community partners.<\/li>\n<li>Reduce health disparities through evidence-informed programs, research, and community engagement.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Current Research &amp; Grant-Funded Initiatives (FY 2026\u20132027) The West Virginia Minority Health Initiative, housed within the Marshall University Minority Health Institute, continues to advance health equity through research, education, workforce development, behavioral health initiatives, and community engagement.
