data-end=\"418\">Community engagement<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"419\" data-end=\"458\">\n<p data-start=\"421\" data-end=\"458\"><span class=\"relative -mx-px my-[-0.2rem] rounded px-px py-[0.2rem] transition-colors duration-100 ease-in-out\">Innovative intervention strategies<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"459\" data-end=\"487\">\n<p data-start=\"461\" data-end=\"487\">Collaborative partnerships<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"140\" data-end=\"378\">The Minority Health Institute was awarded <strong data-start=\"182\" data-end=\"196\">$57,850.00<\/strong> from the <strong data-start=\"206\" data-end=\"244\">Bureau for Behavioral Health (BBH)<\/strong> through the <strong data-start=\"257\" data-end=\"307\">Transformation Transfer Initiative (TTI) Grant<\/strong>, covering the period from <strong data-start=\"334\" data-end=\"375\">September 1, 2024, to August 31, 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"380\" data-end=\"477\">The <strong data-start=\"384\" data-end=\"407\">population of focus<\/strong> includes <strong data-start=\"417\" data-end=\"460\">West Virginia\u2019s underserved communities<\/strong>, specifically:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"478\" data-end=\"749\">\n<li data-start=\"478\" data-end=\"509\">\n<p data-start=\"480\" data-end=\"509\">Rural Appalachian residents<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"510\" data-end=\"537\">\n<p data-start=\"512\" data-end=\"537\">Youth living in poverty<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"538\" data-end=\"621\">\n<p data-start=\"540\" data-end=\"621\">Youth at risk of or involved with the juvenile justice or child welfare systems<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"622\" data-end=\"749\">\n<p data-start=\"624\" data-end=\"749\">Youth at risk for, or currently diagnosed with, <strong data-start=\"672\" data-end=\"711\">Serious Emotional Disturbance (SED)<\/strong> or <strong data-start=\"715\" data-end=\"747\">Serious Mental Illness (SMI)<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"751\" data-end=\"895\">This initiative supports innovative strategies to improve behavioral health outcomes and expand access to care for these vulnerable populations.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Marshall University Minority Health Institute will receive $1.7 million over five years, from 2023-28, through a U.S. Department of Education grant to fund a program focused on minority and low-income Minority Health Institute recently received $100,000 in March 2023 to address and work with the Bureau to coordinate statewide efforts to reduce health inequity for vulnerable populations as defined by race\/ethnicity, socio-economic status, geography, age, disability status, and among other populations identified to be at risk for health disparities.<\/p>\n<p>The Minority Health Institute recently received $199,000.00 in January 2022 to address COVID-19 Vaccination Equity and Prioritizing Populations Disproportionately Affected by COVID-19. Jim Justice and Director Jill Upson of the Herbert Henderson Office of Minority Affairs (HHOMA) awarded $25,000 to the Marshall University Minority Health Institute to aid in their efforts to improve community health and economic development in Kanawha County, West Virginia. The pilot program, called Building Resources In Diverse Geographic Environments (BRIDGE), is a comprehensive community revitalization effort with a mission of addressing poverty, improving community-wide health, stimulating labor force participation, and supporting economic development.
