They remind me that I&#8217;m pushing my boundaries and striving for excellence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Elected this spring as student body vice president, Nevaeh has chosen to take a step back from her role in student government to focus on a long list of appearances and responsibilities associated with her new title. She is also a pre-med biochemistry major with aspirations to attend the Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine after graduation to become a pediatric physician. It\u2019s not only a career she strives to obtain, it\u2019s a path she wants to pave for other young girls who may be watching.<\/p>\n<div class=\"block border-t-2 border-b-2 py-6 mt-6 lg:border-t-0 lg:border-b-0 mb-8 lg:float-left lg:pr-6 lg:py-6 lg:w-1\/3 lg:-ml-24 xl:-ml-32 lg:mt-4 lg:mr-8 lg:mb-4 lg:border-r-4 border-green \">\n\t<span class=\"text-gray-700 font-semibold text-lg leading-5 bg-repeat-x bg-size-[100%_6px] bg-position-[0_90%] bg-linear-to-r from-green\/10 to-green\/10\">&#8220;As a first-generation college student and a Black\/Filipino-American female, I will always feel the importance of being that representation and role model for little girls&#8221;<\/span>\n\n\t\t\t<span class=\"block text-right w-full mt-4 uppercase font-medium\">- Nevaeh Harmon<\/span>\n\t<\/div>\n\n<p>\u201cAs a first-generation college student and a Black\/Filipino-American female, I will always feel the importance of being that representation and role model for little girls who want to be doctors, engineers, nurses, scientists, astronauts or in any STEM field,\u201d Nevaeh said. \u201cThey are worthy of everything they want to accomplish and they are worthy of their own crowning moment. Marshall University is and forever will be home.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Regardless of the outcome, Nevaeh knows she has support from the Marshall Family and she is gaining a new perspective in the process.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve been thinking about the incredible journey that has brought me here,\u201d Nevaeh said. \u201cThe confidence I\u2019ve gained throughout this experience is immeasurable.
